PUSS IN BOOTS CASTLE – CHATEAU DE BRETEUIL
Excursion for 4-5 hours, from Paris by car can be reached in 45-50 minutes.
Address: Château of Breteuil, Choisel, 78460 Chevreuse.
Between 1604 and 1610, Breteuil Castle was built 35 km from Paris. Until today, it belongs to the same noble family of Breteuil, who served the kings of France from the 17th to the 18th centuries and gave them three ministers. During the construction of the Place des Vosges, Charles Perrault was an employee of the Count of Breteuil, and the castle only embodies the fairy tales familiar to the whole world, published much later: “Puss in Boots, Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, or a glass shoe, Donkey skin, Boy-s -finger, Bluebeard The castle and castle park are distinguished by real French elegance and are very interesting to visit. The castle halls with wooden paneling of the walls are decorated with numerous portraits of ancestors and ancient tapestries, as well as wax figures of castle characters with a very rich history of the past.
In the 19th century, the future King of England, Edward VII, a great friend of the Marquis de Breteuil, spent a lot of time in these places.
The current heirs of the ancient Breteuil family: Heinrich-Francois and Severin Breteuil will welcome you cordially, answering any question you may have.
We recommend visiting Breteuil Castle during the Easter festivities, when the owners traditionally hide Easter eggs in the garden.
Castle visits every day at 14:30, additional visits at 11:30 on Sundays, holidays and school holidays.
Tales of Charles Perrault and performances take place throughout the year on Sundays and public holidays at 16:30
Entrance fees: Castle, garden and Fairy tales: 14 euros, under 18s 11 euros.
PARK ASTERIX – PARC ASTERIX
Asterix Park is a theme amusement park located 30 km from Paris, opened since the spring of 1989, on the theme of famous French comics, films and cartoons about the Romans and the ancestors of the French – the Gauls.
This is a fascinating journey through six periods of history – from Ancient Gaul to the present day, fantastic attractions, performances, cinema.
If we compare Parc Asterix with Disneyland, then it should be said that it is much smaller in size, not so luxurious and colorful, but at the same time much more soulful, homely and comfortable, and besides, it is thoroughly saturated with French flavor, unlike its Americanized counterpart. Lots of water attractions. Along with quiet rides for children, there are absolutely crazy rides only for the most daring and courageous. Welcome to Europe’s most stunning dead loop – Goudurix! Height – more than thirty-six meters, speed – 75 km / h and all these are loops, turns, descents with a length of more than 950 meters. Complete madness and no common sense! It is absolutely certain that you will get the maximum adrenaline! Don’t miss Journey to Zeus. Passing between the legs of a huge marble statue of the ancient god at the entrance to Olympus, do not forget to raise your head and appreciate his white polka-dot shorts. This is an absolutely amazing rollercoaster with sharp turns, slopes at ninety degrees, raised to a height of up to thirty meters, insane speed, and all this in the open air and under the perky laughter of a thunderer. The most wonderful dolphinarium is also open here in the Poseidon Theater, where you can not only watch the performance of marine animals, but also swim in the pool with them or admire their graceful “pas” underwater through transparent glass.
And if during your trip to Paris there is time not only to visit the sparkling and magical Disneyland, then try not to miss this homely, hooligan and completely crazy Asterix Park, in the center of which a cheerful Gaul sits on a rock and winks fervently at everyone who decides to visit it possession.
The park is open from April to October from 10.00 to 18.00
But in order to fully enjoy Asterix, one must, of course, know the original source (the story of Asterix and his friends).
